United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change e-Learning Module

 

 

 

This eLearning modue will begin on September 27, 2010. This module has five lessons. After completing it, you will be able to:

• Name the instruments that govern climate change  in international law and explain their
  role in developed and developing countries, and the special position of the US,  

   - Explain the negotiations going on now to establish a post 2012 regime - Lesson 1

• Describe broadly how the UNFCCC process works, who participates, and
  explain how the Bali Action Plan was adopted and its current importance - Lesson 2

• Describe broadly the context in which the post 2012 regime is being negotiated, key
  issues of the negotiations, and barriers to an agreement and:

       - Explain what was achieved n Copenhagen in December 2009 - Lesson 3

• Describe broadly the follow-up to the Copenhagen conference of the parties (COP) and:

      - Explain the negotiation process as of 2010, and what can be expected from the next  
        meeting of UNFCCC in Cancun, Mexico in November/ December 2010 - Lesson 4

• Articulate the IUCN’s goals in the negotiations  - Lesson 5

This module will also prepare you to participate in Module 4 – Application of IUCN policy
in your work at the national level.
